Using the new Canon Prostream 1000, we print in an environmentally friendly way. This unique printer is built with a lower carbon footprint than any other digital press created.

The system uses a food-safe ink and toner that is waterless as well as chemical free. De-inking paper for recycling has never been easier. My Yearbook is the yearbook printing choice for the environment.

Green Work Initiatives

Reduced Energy Consumption

Our 175kVar Power Factor Device reduces the power consumption of larger machines. Here at My Yearbook, we are working towards creating a battery assisted solar renewable energy with our ultimate goal being; to provide the Gold Coast with a carbon neutral printing solution. We care deeply about offering high quality products that don’t negatively affect our environment.

Recycling Paper Waste & Inks

Our binned paper becomes tissue due to our closed loop Australian Paper Recycling system. Because of this, we recycle more than 12tons of waste paper per week, equating to 624,000kgs of paper recycled each year. Eventually, our printed materials may even make their way back to us becoming entirely new products.

This system means that:

2,391 trees left standing

500,498 litres of water saved

3,951m3 of landfill stopped

Even our inks are environmentally conscious (100% vegetable-based) as they can be easily processed when recycling. The ink easily releases itself from paper fibres.

Waste Reduction

Streamlined production methods reduce our environmental impact. Pre-press involves direct plate production that eliminates film processing and silver waste disposal issues. Our new “Chemical Free Processing” on the plate line makes our printing services environmentally ethical.

Our Komori Super Perfector, introduced in 2005, reduces our use of wash up solvent by 65%, fountain solution by 50%, and paper make-ready and size use by 22%. Our ink waste has also been dramatically reduced.

“Waste isn’t waste until you waste it.”

FSC Certification

The FSC or Forest Stewardship Council was established in 1993 as an international non-profit organisation that promotes responsible management of the world’s forests. By setting standards on forest products and labelling their eco-friendliness accordingly the FSC is a reliable way to determine a tree products environmental impact. Since 1995 Fast Proof Press has been involved in the chain or custody of FSC controlled Paper Stocks.

Sustainable Green Print

The SGP or Sustainable Green Print is an environmental certification program run by the Printing Industries Association of Australia. Members of this service will save money through reduced waste, and a verifiable green competitive edge. SGP is based on ISO14001 as a framework, meeting the needs of business and customers through efficient management of environmental expectations and responsibilities.

There are different levels of certification. Level 2 includes additional layers of management and control including waste stream tracking. It also looks at your energy consumption and carbon footprint. SGP level 2 is a helpful tool for printing businesses as it covers your performance on waste, recycling, energy, water, incident management, storage and the handling of printing chemicals, energy and air emissions.
